Eric Matthew English, 27, of Seaside, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, in Oregon City.
He was born Jan. 31, 1982, in Seaside, to Matthew David English and Vivian Jean Torgeson. His father and stepmother, Megan K. English, survive, residing in Gearhart. His mother preceded him in death.
He attended school in Seaside and received a general equivalency diploma.
On Aug. 5, 2006, he married Krista Valentine Howsden in Seaside. She survives, residing in Seaside.
Mr. English was unable to work because of serious health problems most of his life. He was a stay-at-home father.
Family members said his nicknames were E-lok and Azz-Matik. He was an avid sports fan, and even though he was unable to play, he knew who all the players were. He collected Disney movies for his son as well as hats, jerseys and Barack Obama memorabilia. He loved to joke, make people happy and spend time visiting with family.
In addition to his father, stepmother and wife, he is survived by two sons, Jordan C. English of Seaside and Peyton M. English of Puyallup, Wash.; four brothers, Adam E., Chad A. and James M. English of Seaside and Korben E. English of Gearhart; a nephew, Shaun E. English of Seaside; a niece, Cali L. English of Seaside; three grandparents, Sharon and Jack Standring of Seaside and Barbara Hawkins of Gearhart; the Bolkan family of Forest Grove; the Reynolds family of Oregon City; the Argeris family of Seaside; and numerous other aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by a mother-in-law, Jeanie Marie Hardy.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary, 220 N. Holladay Drive in Seaside, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m.
Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in Seaside.
