The city of Astoria Public Works Department has scheduled the following parking lot and street closures because of sealing and striping work:

Tuesday: Old Safeway parking lots downtown between Duane and Exchange streets from 11th and 12th streets; 11th from Exchange to Duane.

Wednesday: 16th Street from Duane Street to Marine Drive.

All schedules are subject to change in the event of unfavorable weather conditions. No parking at these locations will be allowed. For questions, call Astoria Public Works at (503) 338-5173.

The Oregon Department of Transportation will continue work on the Neahkahnie Mountain Rock Wall Repair next week. The project consists of disassembling and reassembling a failing rock retaining wall along U.S. Highway 101 north of Manzanita. The reassembly will include new drainage features to improve the wall's structural stability. The project also includes improvements to the surrounding sidewalk and parking area.

The scheduled work includes reconstruction of the rock wall. Traffic may be intermittently controlled with flaggers before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Expect minor delays.

Also next week, there will be bridge repair work done at Tide Creek Bridge (mile post 36.47), Lost Creek Bridge (mile post 55.29), Gnat Creek Bridge (mile post 77.25) and Big Creek Bridge (mile post 82.52) on U.S. Highway 30.

The scheduled work includes retrofitting steel tubing onto the concrete barrier at Big Creek Bridge. Crews will also install mechanical stabilization devices at the Gnat Creek Bridge. Traffic may be intermittently controlled with flaggers as needed to facilitate the work.

On U.S. Highway 30 next week, work will continue on a project that consists of replacing a failing rock retaining wall on U.S. 30 (Lower Columbia River Highway) just east of Rainer at mile post 46.5. Flaggers will control single lane traffic around the clock while work is ongoing. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes when driving through the area.
