At 7:21 p.m. Wednesday, Astoria Police responded to a report from a woman who said her boyfriend assaulted her and took their child. The woman reported she tried to call 911, but the boyfriend took the phone out of her hand, leaving her hand swollen and bruised, broke the phone and then began kicking her, after taking the baby from her arms.
Officers were able to contacted the boyfriend, Winston Clay Johnson, 31, of Astoria, at his apartment on Commercial Street. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with making a police report. He was booked into the Clatsop County Jail. Johnson was also cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
At 8:57 p.m. Wednesday, Warrenton Police arrested Susan Lynn Sjodin, 47, for driving under the influence of intoxicants on East Harbor and Heron Drive. She was booked into the Clatsop County Jail.
