At 2:15 p.m. Friday, Oregon State Police responded to a car crash on U.S. Highway 26 near milepost 22. Dawn Lynn Royal, 48, of Beaverton, pulled onto the highway in her Chevy Tahoe without yielding to the right of way, according to the police report. Another driver, Andrew James Boles, 32, of Seaside, tried to avoid the collision, but was struck on the broadside. Troopers discovered Royal was impaired. She was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants. She was cited and released. Boles was not injured.
At 12:07 a.m. Sunday, Oregon State Police stopped a suspected intoxicated driver for failing to maintain the lane on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 19. Troopers discovered the driver, John Wayne Sowell Jr., 40, of Seaside, was impaired by a controlled substance. They found marijuana and a pipe, according to the police report. Sowell was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, failing to maintain a lane and possession of a controlled substance, less than one ounce of marijuana. He was cited and released.
