Drug arrest• At 12:13 a.m. today, a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy arrested Israel Ochoa, 24, of 779 Glasgow Ave., Astoria, for possession of a controlled substance after he allegedly broke out a window on a car in the 1300 block of Olney Avenue. He was also arrested for first-degree criminal mischief, and cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and second-degree trespass. Ochoa was lodged at Clatsop County Jail.

Traffic accidents• At 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Oregon State Police cited Claude Dasch, 21, of Eugene, for careless driving, after he fell asleep while driving north on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 24 in Seaside and left the road, striking two Oregon Department of Transportation signs. The high water warning sign was disabled by the crash.

• At 7:45 p.m. Thursday, OSP cited Bruce Pierce, 46, of California, for careless driving after he fell asleep at the wheel on U.S. Highway 26, two miles east of the Cannon Beach junction. His vehicle went off the road and rolled over twice. Pierce and his 16-year-old son were taken to Providence Seaside Hospital as a precaution and later released with no injuries.

Also at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, OSP cited Wade Schuyler, 41, of Astoria, for unsafe passing on Highway 105 at milepost 5 in Warrenton. His car hit a car driven by Kimberly Russell, of Astoria, as she was making a left turn. No one was injured.

• At 5:15 p.m. Thursday, OSP cited Michael D. Brown, 18, of Warrenton, for unsecure load, after a rolled bale of hay fell from his vehicle on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 12 in Warrenton. The hay struck vehicles driven by Larry Lockett, of Astoria, and Emma Stafford, of Yacolt, Wash. No one was injured.
