DUII arrests? At 2 p.m. Thursday, Oregon State Police arrested Lee Alan Banta, 51, of Astoria, at the Sunset Rest Area on U.S. Highway 26 for driving under the influence of intoxicants. His white pickup was secured at the scene and he was taken to the Seaside Police Station, where he was cited and released.
? At 9:14 a.m. Friday, OSP arrested Fitz Randolph Moore, 59, of Astoria, for DUII after his eastbound blue Ford Expedition crossed the centerline of U.S. Highway 30 and sideswiped a trailer towed by a westbound black Dodge pickup driven by Mark Rosian, 35, of Rainier. Moore was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Rosian, his wife Kimberly, and their two children ages 11 and 13, were not injured.
? At 10:09 p.m. Friday, a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy arrested Eileah R. Wright, 18, of 280 Grand Ave., Astoria, for DUII, after she was involved in a traffic accident on Lower Brownsmead Hill. Wright was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital and then released to her parents.
? At 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Astoria police arrested Melinda Frances Helton, 39, of 92642 TT Larson Road, Astoria, for DUII on Marine Drive at 21st Street. Her vehicle was towed and she was taken to the county jail, where she was cited and released.
? At 2:26 a.m. Saturday, Astoria police arrested Gary Roger Evanson, 59, of Mercer Island, Wash., for DUII on Franklin Avenue at Ninth Street.
? At 10:43 p.m. Saturday, Seaside police arrested Clay L. Mullinn, 58, of Naselle, Wash. on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants and an open container violation. The arrest occurred at the Seaside Outlet Mall, 1111 N. Roosevelt Drive. He was booked in the Seaside jail, and the case was sent to the Clatsop County district attorney.
? At 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Cannon Beach police arrested Jeronimo Perez-Perez, 46, of Seaside, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. The arrest occurred on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 26.
? At 12:33 a.m. Sunday, Cannon Beach police arrested Kristopher K. Pilz, 38, of Cannon Beach, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
? At 6:44 p.m. Sunday, OSP responded to a single-vehicle accident at Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach. During the course of the investigation, OSP determined that the driver, Don Lars Simila, 58, of Cannon Beach, was impaired, with a blood alcohol level of 0.21 percent. Simia was cited at the county jail.
Disturbances? At 2:20 p.m. Friday, Astoria police responded to a fight in progress on the 2700 block of Marine Drive. Brian Thomas Balda, 38, of 2671 Marine Drive, Astoria, was arrested for fourth-degree assault and released. At 10:28 a.m. Sunday, Balda drove his Ford Explorer into a fence on the 2600 block of Marine Drive and tore it down. Astoria police arrested Balda for property-damage hit and run, reckless endangering, attempting to elude a police officer and failure to obey a lawful order. He was lodged at the county jail and was set to be arraigned today in Astoria municipal court.
? At 10:19 p.m. Saturday, a woman reported a man with an axe was at the window of her Suburban, which was blocked in by a trailer the man had dropped behind her vehicle on the 82100 block of Red Bluff Road in Seaside. A Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy arrested John Layton McDonald, 38, of 82178 Red Bluff Road, Seaside, for menacing and disorderly conduct and lodged him at the county jail. The DART (Domestic Assault Response Team) was dispatched to assist the victim. McDonald was set to be arraigned today in circuit court.
Weapon arrest? At 12:41 a.m. today, Astoria police arrested William Morris Harper III, 27, of 573 S.W. Harbor Place, Warrenton, at the Astoria Column, which closes to the public at 10 p.m. every night. Harper was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and carrying a loaded firearm within the city limits of Astoria.
Drug arrests? At 3:50 p.m. Friday, a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy arrested Scott Patrick Pachal, 46, of 1530 S. Roosevelt Drive, Seaside, and Mia Jayne Windsor, 37, of 838 Fifth Ave., Hammond, in the Seaside area and took them to the county jail. Windsor was charged with frequenting a place where controlled substances are used. Pachal was charged with two controlled substance offenses. Pachal was lodged at the jail and was set to be arraigned today in circuit court. Because of overcrowding, Windsor was released from jail at 7:48 p.m. Friday, an hour after she was booked.
? At 6:43 p.m. Friday, a deputy arrested Denise J. Adams, 49, of 400 N. Holladay Ave., Seaside, at an unspecified location, for possession of a controlled substance.
? At 7:46 p.m. Friday, a deputy arrested Scott Eric Shirley, 39, of 92128 Svensen Market Road, Astoria, at an unspecified location, for possession of a controlled substance.
Thefts and vehicle break-ins? At 8:55 a.m. Sunday, a woman told Astoria police someone had broken into her vehicle overnight while it was parked on the 1500 block of Irving Avenue.
? At 1:47 p.m. Sunday, Astoria police began investigating a theft complaint at the Astoria Yacht Club, 1555 W. Marine Drive.
Aggravated Assault? At 4:04 p.m. Friday, Seaside police responded to a report of an assault at the Holiday Inn Express, 34 N. Holladay Drive. They arrested Michael L. Morgan, 47, a Seaside transient, on a charge of fourth-degree assault. He was booked in the Seaside jail, and the case was sent to the Clatsop County district attorney.
Motor vehicle accident? At 3:31 p.m. Saturday, Seaside police responded to a report of a motor vehicle running into a bicycle rider at 16th Avenue and North Roosevelt Drive. They cited the bicycle rider Michael E. Degrandpre, 60, of Vancouver, Wash., for failure to ride on the right side of the road, and they cited the vehicle's driver, Laura J. Romine, 21, of Seaside for failure to obey a traffic control device. The police report did not indicate if there were injuries.
Bike theft? At 10:39 a.m. Saturday, Seaside police responded to a report of the theft of a bicycle at an apartment in the 1100 block of Downing Street. The bike was valued at $489.
? At 12:24 p.m. Saturday, Seaside police responded to a report of the theft of a bicycle in the Seaside Outlet Mall, 1111 N. Roosevelt Drive. The bike was valued at $645.
Domestic Disturbance? At 9:34 p.m. Sunday, Seaside police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Eighth Avenue. They arrested Christopher R. Hall, 20, of Seaside, on two charges of fourth-degree assault and one charge of third-degree sex abuse. He was booked in the Clatsop County jail, and the case was sent to the district attorney.
Grass fire? At 5:11 p.m. Sunday, Seaside volunteer firefighters responded to a grass fire on the beach at Lewis & Clark Way. The fire appeared to be an unattended campfire. Firefighters returned to the station at 5:37 p.m.
