• At 9:53 p.m. Sunday, Astoria police arrested Brad Joseph Tymkowicz, 53, of Milwaukie, for DUII. A McDonald’s employee reported that the man had stopped his car in the drive-thru, turned off the engine, and was just sitting there.

Man in Water

• At 12:57 p.m. Friday, a man was reported in the water at the West Mooring Basin, near the Red Lion Hotel, in Astoria. Astoria police, Oregon State Police, Astoria Fire Department and Medix responded. The 63-year-old man had been getting off his boat when he slipped and fell into the water. He yelled for help, but no one heard him. Steve Straily, Astoria’s deputy fire chief, estimated that the man had been in the water for nearly 25 minutes before someone heard him and called 911. The man was “very, very cold and very, very weak” by the time the responders were able to manually pull him up onto the dock, Straily said. “He was too cold to stand.” Medix transported him to a hospital.
