Suspicious circumstances? At 5:37 a.m. Wednesday, a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy contacted a man at the Columbia Memorial Hospital emergency room who was being treated for a knife wound to the abdomen, which he said happened when he fell on his knife while dancing at a friend's house. The deputy is investigating.

Disturbance? At 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Astoria police arrested Dolores Anna Skillstad, 71, of Astoria, for second-degree trespass. It was the third time in one hour that police had responded to reports that she was yelling at Qwest workers trying to put in a phone line near her home on the 2300 block of First Street. Skillstad was cited and released at Clatsop County Jail.

Thefts? At 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, a woman reported her shopping cart was taken with her purse in it at North Coast Fred Meyer's. Warrenton police are investigating.

? At 8:49 p.m. Wednesday, Astoria police cited and released Daniel James Merrill, 30, of Astoria for third-degree theft and no drivers license. He was located on U.S. Highway 30 near the Crest Motel after a report that a man had taken wood from the Astoria Safeway and put it in his white van without paying for it, and a second report that a man had pulled a white van over to the side of the highway and was assaulting a woman.

Fire? At 8:29 p.m. Wednesday, the Knappa-Svensen Fire Department and a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy responded to a vehicle fire on U.S. Highway 30. The fire was put out and the vehicle was towed.

Assault arrest? At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Cannon Beach police arrested Diego Hernandez Santiago, 20, of Portland, at the Tolovana Inn on a charge of fourth-degree assault. The victim was transported by ambulance to Seaside Providence Hospital.
