At 9:55 p.m. Thursday, Oregon State Police arrested Marcela Teresa Vanstone, 25, of Manzanita for driving under the influence of intoxicants on U.S. Highway 101 in Cannon Beach. According to OSP, Vanstone lost control of her 2001 Toyota Prius on a curve and crossed into oncoming traffic, forcing the driver of a northbound Seaside school bus filled with middle school students to swerve to avoid a collision. After that, Vanstone drove off the highway and down an embankment, coming to rest against some trees. She was not injured. Subsequent investigation determined she was impaired and she was arrested for DUII and taken to the Seaside Police Department, where a breath sample provided 90 minutes after the crash revealed a 0.19 percent blood alcohol level, OSP reported. Additional charges will be submitted to the Clatsop County District Attorney's Office for review.
