Endangering a highway worker? At 11:17 a.m. Tuesday, Astoria police arrested Jeffrey Paul Smith, 31, of Warrenton, at Third Street and Marine Drive for reckless driving, recklessly endangering a highway worker and second-degree criminal mischief. He was cited and released at Clatsop County Jail.

Assault arrest? At 12:47 a.m. today, Astoria police arrested Michael Ralph Long, 46, for fourth-degree assault, after responding to a report of a disturbance at his home in the 500 block of Rivington Avenue. Long's girlfriend reportedly told a 9-1-1 dispatcher that Long had punched her in the head. He was lodged at Clatsop County Jail.
