Traffic accidents At 8:47 a.m. Friday, two vehicles were totalled when they collided at Third Street and Olney Avenue, where traffic from the Old Youngs Bay Bridge merges onto West Marine Drive. Astoria police and firefighters responded. Astoria police said Karen Barber, 34, of Astoria, was crossing West Marine Drive, headed toward Seventh Street, and failed to yield for a car driven by Tiffany Lemond, 40, of Seattle, which was coming in from the bridge, headed toward Astoria High School. The impact ripped the front wheels off both vehicles, but the drivers suffered only minor injuries. They were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital. A passenger in Lemond's car was not injured.
At 11:32 a.m. Sunday, a toddler was knocked down by a car in a driveway on Alameda Avenue near Oregon Street. He was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. No further details were available from APD.
A three-vehicle crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on North Roosevelt Drive and Sixth Avenue. Gary D. Lucas, 53, of Seaside was transported to Providence Seaside Hospital with neck and back pain.
At 4:14 p.m. Saturday, a Clatsop County Sheriff's deputy arrested Charles Clay Morton, 42, of Hammond, on Highway 202 in Olney, for manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance and lodged him at Clatsop County Jail. David Leo Melton, 46, of Hammond, was also arrested on unspecified charges.
Disturbances At 3:34 a.m. Sunday, an employee of an Astoria motel reported a naked man sleeping in a hallway. Astoria police returned the man to his room. At 4:21 a.m. Sunday, Astoria police responded to a report of shots fired near the waterfront and determined people in another motel were shooting fireworks from a window. Those guests left at the request of management.
Man arrested Richard James Ahlstrom, 24, of 430 Avenue U, Seaside, was arrested Saturday by Seaside Police on charges of third-degree sexual assault, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was lodged at Clatsop County Jail.
Thefts 800 block of 12th Avenue, Seaside. A stereo speaker, car keys, 20 CDs and vehicle papers were stolen from a car. It was reported to Seaside Police Friday morning.
400 block of South Holladay Drive, Seaside. A Schwinn bicycle was stolen. It was reported to Seaside Police Friday morning.
Burglaries At 8:18 a.m. Friday, Lum's Auto Center, 1625 Exchange St., reported an overnight break-in and possible theft to Astoria police.
At 11:25 a.m. Friday, Astoria Ford, 710 W. Marine Drive, reported an overnight break-in at its service department with $675 worth of tools missing.
Attempted burglary 1000 block of Sixth Avenue. A person reported to Seaside Police at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday that someone attempted to gain entry to a residence. A trash can had been placed under a window and a screen partially cut, but no entry was made. There was no suspect information.
