DUII arrest? At 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, Oregon State Police clocked a white Chevy pickup doing 74 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. Highway 101 in Warrenton and stopped it at Marlin Avenue. According to OSP, investigation revealed the driver, Jonathan Nicolas Pottmeyer, 26, of Aloha, had been driving under the influence of intoxicants. His blood alcohol was 0.15 percent and two open containers of alcohol were found inside the pickup, OSP reported. Pottmeyer was charged with DUII, open container and violating the basic rule. He was taken to Clatsop County Jail, where he was cited and given a conditional release. His pickup was towed.
Burglaries? At 8:53 p.m. Monday, Astoria police got a report of a man who had apparently locked himself in the basement of somebody else's house on the first block of Dresden Avenue. Police are investigating the incident as second-degree burglary.
? At 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Warrenton police began investigating a burglary to a residence on the 600 block of Southwest Birch Court.
Car hits garage? At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, Cannon Beach Fire & Rescue assisted James Graceffo at 3732 W. Chinook St. who had accidentally stepped on the accelerator of his car while pulling into the garage. The car slammed into the back wall of the garage, knocking over the furnace and the hot water heater and disconnecting a gas line. A neighbor, who also was a volunteer firefighter, rushed over to the house and shut off the utilities. Damage was estimated at $6,000. No injuries occurred.
