Businesses looking to hire employees for full, part-time or summer positions are invited to participate in the 4th annual Clatsop County Job & Career Fair to be held May 12 from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seaside Convention Center.

There is no charge to businesses for booth space. Costs for the event are underwritten by WorkSource Northwest Oregon and MTC Training & Placement, as well as other sponsors.

"We are one of the very few job fairs that do not charge vendors," said Linda Wyss, business and employment specialist with WorkSource Northwest Oregon's office in Astoria. "We provide the event free thanks to our partners and sponsors."

For a business, the job fair offers an opportunity for businesses to promote their company, and present employment opportunities to a large number of people in a casual environment.

Wyss said past job fairs not only have attracted job seekers from Clatsop County and neighboring communities, but also prospective employees from across Oregon and as far away as Seattle.

Last year's event drew 420 job seekers and 56 vendors.

Wyss said businesses reported a potential 105 employee hires as a result of last year's job fair.

Businesses interested in taking part in this year's job fair can register online by April 30 at www.mtcworks.com/2010jobfair and click on "Clatsop County." For more information call Linda Wyss at Worksource Northwest Oregon at (503) 325-4821, ext. 234.

In addition to WorkSource Northwest Oregon and MTC, sponsors for this year's job fair include the Oregon Department of Human Services, Clatsop Community College, Chambers of Commerce throughout Clatsop County, Regional Workforce Investment Board and Lower Columbia Human Resource Management Council.
