The Ear loves a Hollywood success story, and Jeff Andersson sent in a good one about some of his family friends - two boys who used to live in Seaside and are now successful working actors in Hollywood, using the stage names Brennan Bailey, 11, and Preston Bailey, 8. The boys' parents are Rob and Karen Mundt, Portland natives who moved to Astoria in 1994, where they lived for a few years before moving to Seaside, then on to Los Angeles in 2006.
Preston plays "Cody" on Showtime's "Dexter," and was nominated, as part of the cast, for "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series" by the Screen Actors Guild. Although the ensemble didn't win, the boys' publicist, Susan Bernhardt of InMedia, said, "Finding his name on the ballot alongside actors like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, Shirley McLaine, Sean Penn, Tina Fey and Steve Carell was an exciting moment for the 8-year-old."
"He's been acting more than half his life," Bernhardt said. Preston will also appear in the soon-to-be-released "Nothing But the Truth," and recently wrapped the feature film "Stephen King's Children of the Corn 2009."
"The acting bug came first to his big brother Brennan," said Bernhardt. "The former Gearhart Elementary School student has co-starred in several feature films, and has a pivotal role in the much-anticipated feature 'My Sister's Keeper' ... this role was a chance for him to showcase his talent for crying on cue."
