Astoria hosts the board of directors of the Oregon Community Foundation Wednesday.

The board will tour downtown and host a reception Wednesday night at the Columbia River Maritime Museum featuring a talk from Englund Marine owner and OCF board member John Englund.

The foundation, founded in 1974, manages a permanent endowment of $500 million and oversees more than 1,000 separate funds that provide grants and scholarships totaling $30 million a year.

In 2002, the Clatsop County Endowment Fund was created with the proceeds of a legal settlement with a Warrenton seafood processor. Disbursements from that fund have gone to fund playground equipment, the peer jury program and the Pioneer House homeless shelter.
