Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors will spend a day at Astoria Middle School. G. Valmont Thomas and Kal Poole will perform excerpts from Shakespeare's writings and classic and contemporary literature in assemblies and interactive workshops.

Parents and guardians are invited to attend assemblies at 8:25 and 10 a.m. Wednesday. Students will participate in workshops in the afternoon.

The actors are part of the School Visit Program. After the 2001 Shakespeare season ended, teams of actors visited 162 schools in five states and Canada. The current program is supported by grants from Bank of America, The Frances and Townsend Burden Foundation, LifeScan Inc., ChevronTexaco and Oregon Shakespeare Festival Members, among others.

Clatsop Community College provided a grant to pay for the event. Patrick Morrisson at the college arranged the visit.
