The Northwest Watercolor Society announced that the Golden Artist Color Award was given to Noel Thomas of Astoria for his watercolor "Paris Underfoot," a painting of Paris cobblestones, now on display in the Waterworks 2007 Membership Exhibition at the Harbor Gallery, 3177 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor, Wash. The exhibit will be open until Nov. 24.

Thomas says Paris "gave me a renewed look at my own surroundings - the endlessly beautiful world of the river, the ships, our own street corners - of which I will never tire."

A signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, Thomas is also a member of the American Watercolor Society. Since 1990, Thomas has been painting watercolors out of his Astoria studio.
