SEASIDE - Downtown merchants in Seaside are now able to use police parking spaces as loading zones under specific circumstances.
Through a special partnership with the Seaside Downtown Development Association and the Seaside Police, merchants may use police zones only for loading and unloading merchandise. There is a 10-minute limit and police spaces may be used only when other nearby parking is not available. A vehicle's emergency flashers must be on while loading or unloading. Abusing the spaces will result in a large ticket.
The dual police and loading zones are located at Broadway Drive near the turnaround on the south side of the street, Broadway near the
intersection of Columbia Street and Broadway (in front of Bee Bop
Burgers) and at Broadway and Edgewood Street across from the Pig 'N Pancake.
"The Seaside Downtown Development Association has been working with Chief Ken Almberg in an effort to gain more loading zones in downtown Seaside," SDDA Executive Director Bree Phillips said. "This is a privilege exclusive to downtown merchants and we ask that you please follow all rules carefully."
