The U.S. Coast Guard assisted a 40-foot sailing vessel with 11 people on it Saturday when the boat broke down off the West Mooring Basin.

The individuals on board were waving flags and flares, and people in town spotted the commotion and called the emergency line.

At approximately 2 p.m., Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment launched a 47-foot motor lifeboat and towed the Pelican back to shore.
