The Lower Columbia Youth Soccer Association's Pilots, a U14 boys' competitive soccer team, placed second in their division this year.

The team consisted of 16 seventh- and eighth-grade boys from Astoria, Cannon Beach, Seaside and Warrenton and was coached by Josh Long and Mark Gagnon.

The team started its year with a preseason showing at the Mt. Hood Challenge tournament in Hillsboro where the Pilots took third in the bronze division.

During the regular fall season, the Pilots held half their games at home while they traveled to play teams in the Portland metropolitan area, and as far south as Corvallis and Tillamook.

Their final record for the 2009 season was eight wins, two ties and two losses. This record shows substantial improvement for the team, which came in last place in 2008 with one win, two ties and 11 losses.
