SVENSEN - No one has been arrested yet in the hit-and-run death Saturday of 21-year-old Knappa resident Anthony "Tony" White Jr. But people have been calling the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office with information, Chief Deputy Paul Williams said today.

He said deputies are tracking down every lead and continuing to canvass body shops in Clatsop and surrounding counties, looking for vehicles brought in with front-end damage. An autopsy has been conducted to determine the cause of White's death and look for trace evidence on his body and clothing, such as paint from a vehicle. Williams expects to receive the autopsy report soon.

White was struck as he walked along Old Highway 30 about one-tenth mile east of Svensen Market Road. A motorist reported finding his body in the road at 1:12 a.m.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office at (503) 325-8635 or the Knappa Substation at (503) 458-7054 during business hours, or (503) 325-2061 any time.
