Portland police say they have located the mother of three young children, who were found in a shed.

East precinct officers received a 911 call from a man who had heard the kids voices coming from an area behind his home.

Officers talked to a number of homeless people in the area and found the three children.

They all appeared to be under the age of four.

Officials say the children are now safe, and that they are in protective custody.

"The mother of the missing children has been located and we thank everyone who helped with information. We do not need any additional tips.

There will be no more details released about this case as it is still under investigation."
