ANNON BEACH - Police have confirmed that the man who robbed the Bank of Astoria in Cannon Beach Wednesday morning had a gun.

Police released a description midafternoon. The man is 5-5, medium build, was wearing sunglasses and a stocking cap, and had on a clear rain jacket or poncho over a white sweatshirt with a hood.

He entered the bank at 107 Sunset Blvd. at about 9:15 a.m.

"While armed with a handgun, the male subject demanded money and then left the bank on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money," said a press release from Chief Gene Halliburton.

It is possible a getaway car may have been parked on Sunset Boulevard east of the U.S. Highway 101 overpass.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cannon Beach Police Department at (503) 436-2811.
