SEASIDE - Clatsop County is having an increase in purse thefts, Seaside police reported today. Unsecured vehicles are especially vulnerable, but many vehicles have had windows broken.

Seaside police advise citizens to secure residences and vehicles. Purses should not be left in vehicles. Anyone who sees a suspicious pedestrian, biker or driver should call the police at 911 or (503) 738-6311 right away.

Victims should call the police, contact their bank and cancel credit cards to prevent unauthorized use.

Seaside police would appreciate any information. Anonymous information is accepted.
