The Port of St. Helens has hired Paula Miranda to the newly-created position of real estate manager and business development manager.

Miranda, who began her new job on May 1, previously worked for the Port of Portland, where she was contracts administrator and property manager. She started her career as an escrow officer, working for several private Title insurance companies.

In her new job, Miranda will have responsibility for marketing the Port of St. Helens' numerous properties at a time when commercial interest is growing, particularly around the Port-owned Scappoose Industrial Airpark and its Port Westward Energy Park near Clatskanie.

"There are opportunities here to make things happen," she told the Coast River Business Journal. "There is definitely a lot happening all over" the Port district.
