Portland police say they arrested a professional basketball player with local ties early Wednesday for stomping on a homeless man while an officer was watching.

Twenty-one-year-old Terrence Jones has played one season in the NBA. He's with the Houston Rockets. Jones attended Jefferson High School in Portland, before going to the University of Kentucky.

The police say Jones was part of a large group that left the Tube nightclub at 2 a.m., in the Old Town neighborhood. Jones reportedly yelled at two homeless men who were sleeping in a doorway, and then stomped on the leg of one of them. Officers say the victim received a minor injury, and didn't need medical attention.

Jones was charged with harassment.
