Survey asks opinions on economic developmentIn the next few days, 1,200 households and 1,200 businesses in Clatsop County will receive post cards and surveys for their opinions about economic development locally.

"If you get a survey, please fill it out and send it back in," said Clatsop County Community Development Director Kathleen Sellman. "Our county commissioners have directed this survey to help them decide the county government's role in economic development."

"This is an effort to reach out to our community to assess citizens' opinions and ideas about economic development and what kind of economic development policies and programs the county should be pursuing," County Administrator Scott Derickson said.

The University of Oregon's Community Planning Workshop is conducting the survey. Responses will be anonymous and confidential.

Households were randomly selected from voter registration rolls for a proportionate geographic cross section of the county. Businesses were selected using Oregon Department of Employment information to proportionately represent the variety of types of businesses.
