The Lower Columbia Preservation Society's fourth annual Garden Tour will feature five Astoria gardens 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10 Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. July 10 at 690 17th St., in Astoria. Admission is $8 per person and $4 for LCPS members.
"This year's Garden Tour will feature gardens that are both large and small, and each garden displays a charm that exemplifies their owners' personality," said tour chairwoman Ann Gyde, "The gardens on the tour are brimming with beauty and charm, and as is any day that's spent in a garden, it will be a day filled with fun, ideas, and inspiration."
Discount coupons from area nurseries and stores will be given to the first 100 people who buy tickets. Raffle tickets for garden themed items are $1 each or 15 for $10. The tickets may be purchased on the day of the tour. Raffle winners are not required to attend the event. The raffle drawing will take place after the tour at a reception on the Flavel House lawn. Homemade refreshments will be served. Proceeds from the garden tour will be used to promote the organization's mission and its education programs. People who join the Lower Columbia Preservation Society on the day of the tour will receive the LCPS membership tour rate of $4. Annual membership in the organization is $10 per person, and includes lectures and workshops free or at discount, the newsletter "Restoria," and reminders and e-mails of preservation related news and events.
