John Koster, president and CEO of Providence Health & Services, has announced that Greg Van Pelt will be Providence's Oregon Region chief executive. Earlier this year, Russ Danielson, the chief executive, made public his decision to retire this fall.

In Oregon, Van Pelt was previously the chief executive for Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, then for Providence Health Plans, followed by his work in the former Washington Region and his current role as system executive vice president and chief operations officer.

He will begin his new role as Oregon's chief executive July 1.
