SEASIDE - Recently, Providence Seaside Hospital gathered more than 1,000 pounds of nonperishable food and sundry items in an employee food drive. Mary Trudell, director of Mission Integrations, Ethics and Spiritual Care, donated the items to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Gearhart on behalf of the hospital.

Serving south Clatsop County, the pantry provides food and emergency financial assistance to an increasing number of clients. Families that qualify receive food boxes once every 30 days. The pantry, which is operated entirely by volunteers, is a nonprofit relying on donations to offer assistance to people in the community who may need a helping hand.

To continue at the current level of service, providing approximately 372 food boxes to 472 people per month, the St. Vincent de Paul Gearhart Pantry is appealing to area residents for their help and support.

For information, call Bob Gazewood at (503) 738-9426 or send a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, P.O. Box 1189, Seaside, OR 97138.
