The Clatsop County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in its investigation of a kidnapping that occurred Thursday in Svensen.
A woman drove into the Tubby's Texaco, U.S. Highway 30 and Svensen Market Road, about 6 p.m., parked and went into the store. When she came out a few minutes later, a man whom she did not know was in her car.
The man forced the victim to drive to a secluded area where he switched to the driver's seat. He then drove the victim to Longview, Wash., and then returned to Clatsop County. He stopped the car, got out and walked away.
The woman was physically unharmed.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 6 feet tall and about 40 years old. He is described as having dark eyes, a mustache and black hair cut short on the sides and longer in the back. He had a red Oriental-style tattoo on the back of one hand. He was wearing a denim jacket, jeans and black boots.
The victim's car is a red 1991 Chevrolet Lumina four-door sedan with Oregon Trail license plates 338 ASH. Anyone who saw this vehicle on Halloween night or has information about this case is asked to call Detective Kristen Hanthorn at the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office at 325-8635.
