Concerned about crime in your community? Clatsop County is looking for local residents to serve on the county Public Safety Coordinating Council.

This group develops and proposes a local comprehensive corrections program for adults and juveniles and helps coordinate local criminal justice policy. Its members include judges, police, health officials, lawyers and government representatives. The council usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month at noon.

The two vacancies are open to the general public and are for terms ending July 1, 2007.

Application forms are available from the Clatsop County Administrator's Office, 800 Exchange St., Suite 310, Astoria or by calling 325-1000. The form can be downloaded from the county's Web site at (www.co.clatsop.or.us). Forms should be completed and turned in by Sept. 9 to be considered for the appointments. The Clatsop County Board of commissioners will make the appointments.
