Clatsop County Administrator Scott Derickson invites the community to an open house Monday to meet the finalists for the public works director position. The event will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Duncan Law Seafood Center at 2021 Marine Drive, Astoria.

Derickson will hire a successor to long-time Public Works Director Randy Trevillian, who officially retired last May. Trevillian has since been filling in as the interim director of both the Public Works and Community Development departments.

The finalists for the Public Works director position are:

• Allen W. Campbell, public works director for Humboldt County, Calif.;

• Joy E. Gannon, public works director for the City of Cannon Beach;

• David A. Hill, public works director for Columbia County. Hill was the county engineer and assistant road master for Clatsop County in 1985-1995.

• Edward Wegner Jr., director of public works and emergency manager for the City of Tigard.

"I am very pleased with the professional caliber of the applicants Clatsop County attracted for this position," Derickson said. "All four finalists are excellent candidates and offer broad knowledge and experience in both public works and community relations."

During the day Monday, the finalists will participate in interviews with the county administrator, county department heads and a panel of community leaders and local public works peers.
