ST. HELENS - Columbia River People's Utility District (PUD) won awards in six of seven categories in the 2012 Excellence in Communications Competition held by the Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA).
The PUD received a perfect score for its website, www.crpud.net, and was also recognized for its annual report, its Power Lines customer newsletter, its energy efficiency advertising and customer information pieces, and for photography.
"We are always looking for the best ways to communicate with customers about our low rates, our reliable service, our energy efficiency rebates and our payment options," said PUD Communication Specialist Libby Calnon. "It's an honor to be acknowledged by our peers for the work that we do."
NWPPA has held the Excellence in Communications competition for 19 years to recognize the best communications work from its member utilities, which are located in eight western states and two Canadian provinces. This year, NWPPA received nearly 160
entries from 37 utility and association members. The entrants each compete in one of four categories, depending on the utility's size. The PUD competes against other utilities with 10,000 - 25,000 customers.
The PUD has won more than 30 awards in the annual competition, and was the 2007 recipient of the Tom Hougan Award for Overall Excellence in Communications, which is the top prize in the competition.
