(Seaside, Oregon) - It's been a tense and tragic 24 hours since the Oregon Air National Guard F-15A jet fighter crashed into the ocean, just off the north Oregon coast. But the recovery effort has been all but invisible to those in the north coast towns.

The body of the pilot was recovered late Tuesday evening, but the announcement was withheld until Wednesday at the request of the family. Flying the plane was Maj. Gregory D. Young, 34, of St. Helens, Oregon - a town just west of Portland.
