A workshop on Red Alder Forest Management is being offered by the OSU Extension Service on Friday, May 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Olney Grange Hall, 89342 Hwy 202, Astoria (10 miles SE of Astoria).
The workshop will help forest landowners and forest managers learn about options and methods for managing red alder.
Instructor Glenn Ahrens, OSU Extension Forester, will cover the latest information on key steps in alder management including stand establishment, tree spacing, pruning, harvesting, and marketing. There will be about 90-minutes of indoor presentation plus a field tour to alder management sites.
