The American Red Cross is offering a Babysitter's Training class for youth 11 years old and older from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Clatsop Service Center, 1054 Exchange St.

Students will learn how to perform first aid, identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries, choose age-appropriate toys and games, perform basic care routines, prepare simple meals and snacks and handle bedtime issues.

The course also includes tips on finding and interviewing for babysitting jobs. Upon completion of the course, graduates will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate. The course fee is $25, and must be prepaid.

An Infant/Child Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation class is also being offered from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 21, also at the Clatsop Service Center. Students must pre-register.
