Rehearsals have begun for the Midway Choir and Orchestra's bi-annual performance of the Christmas portion of Handel's "The Messiah," and anyone who sings or plays an instrument is invited to participate.

Choral rehearsals are Sundays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Nestucca High School music room in Cloverdale. Orchestra rehearsals begin Nov. 2 at 2 p.m., also at the high school. This year, Dr. Albert Thompson is director.

Performances are Dec. 7, at the Nazarene Church in Tillamook and Dec. 14 at Salishan Lodge in Lincoln City, both at 3 p.m. They are free to the public, with a good-will offering taken.

For the past 25 years on every even-numbered year, a large combined choir of vocalists and instrumentalists have performed the "Messiah" in Tillamook and Lincoln City as part of the holiday festivities.

No auditions necessary; sectionals and CD's are available. For more information, call the 541-996-2040, 541-992-2114, 541-994-8531 or 503-801-3603.
