Out of work and wanting to become your own boss? "Becoming Self-Employed" will be the featured program at the Clatsop County Economic Development Council's June 28 dinner forum.
William P. Sanderlin of the Oregon Employment Department will talk about the agency's Self Employment Assistance Program available to people receiving unemployment benefits who want to start a business. Sanderlin also coordinates the department's Claimant Re-employment Programs.
The forum will be held at the Duncan K. Law Seafood Consumer Center, 2021 Marine Drive, Astoria. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with no-host networking, followed at 6:30 p.m. by dinner featuring fresh halibut with chipotle and orange butter. The business meeting and program will begin at 7:15 p.m.
Dinner costs $18 per person and reservations are required by 2 p.m. Thursday by calling the Clatsop County Community Development department at 325-8611. Those who plan to attend the meeting without dinner are asked to call so necessary arrangements can be made.
The agenda also includes the election of officers for 2005-06. The CEDC nominating committee is recommending the following slate of officers: chairman, Don McDaniel; vice chairman, Don Larson; and approved interest groups, Victor Kee. A nomination for secretary-treasurer has not been announced.
