Local nonprofit organization Sea Turtles Forever will be featured in an August episode of KATU's AM Northwest.
Seaside resident Marc Ward, who founded the nonprofit organization with his wife, Rachel, in 2001, said he hopes the media coverage will help "bring awareness of the plight of the sea turtle to the Northwest."
Sea Turtles Forever has grown from its initial clean-up activities on beaches in Costa Rica to include habitat restoration, education and nesting protection for the threatened reptiles, which face threats from commercial fishery nets and lines, litter and poachers that steal eggs from nests.
The couple is also working with Clatsop Community College to develop a program that will enable local biology students to take part in their research and conservation efforts.
The Wards are scheduled to appear on AM Northwest at 9 a.m. Aug. 7.
