The search continues today for a 44-year-old man who went missing Thursday afternoon while hiking with his girlfriend at Countyline Park in Washington state. The park straddles the Wahkiakum and Cowlitz county lines.
Bob Coster, civilian search and rescue controller at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, said the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office asked for help with the search at 12:50 a.m. today. In response, air station personnel outfitted a helicopter with FLIR (forward looking infrared) equipment and flew to the search area, arriving at 1:54 a.m. The helicopter crew searched all night, but found nothing. Another search began early this morning, Coster said.
Dave Davis, a Wahkiakum County 9-1-1 dispatcher, said this morning the ground and air searches are continuing.
