SEASIDE - The Seaside Airport Committee met Tuesday at the Seaside City Council chambers.

The committee discussed noise abatement and decided that Federal Aviation Administration standards were adequate. The standards include regulations to prevent pilots from flying lower than 500 feet when people or structures are nearby. The regulations do not include landing or take-off procedures, Committee Chairman Jason Ketcheson said.

Ketcheson, Vice-chairman Randall Henderson and member Frank Kaim formed a subcommittee to create an application for aviation businesses that wish to locate at or operate from the airport. The group will examine fees, fueling and other commercial activity issues.

The group will also create a list of safety, airport improvement and "wish list" items that will be given to Gearhart and Seaside city councils to help identify grant funding. Private funding and investment options were also discussed.

The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Seaside City Hall.
