SEASIDE – It has been one of the North Coast’s main attractions for the past 75 years. The Seaside Aquarium, located at 200 N. Prom, celebrate its 75th anniversary May 25.

“I believe that the Aquarium has survived so long because of the simplicity of its design,” said Keith Chandler, Seaside Aquarium general manager. “The man who built the Aquarium used a lot of common sense. We also have had very dedicated employees and owners over the last 75 years. But the main reason we are still here is because of our visitors. Without the support of our loyal visitors we would not be here.”

Chandler believes environmental factors have been the most significant change at the Aquarium over the past 75 years.

“The Aquarium has more of an environmental awareness than it had in 1937,” he said. “We try a little to educate our visitors while still providing a fun and entertaining experience. The future is to keep on doing what we are doing and try to keep our customers happy.”

Special prices will be part of the 75th anniversary celebration planned at the Aquarium.

On Friday, May 25 Aquarium admission prices will be rolled back to the original rates charged in 1937. Adults will pay 15 cents and children will be charged 10 cents. Drawings will also be held for 75 prizes and you need not be present to win. For more information, call the Seaside Aquarium at (503) 738-6211.
