The Seaside Elks Lodge’s monthly bulletin has received a first place award from the Northwest District of the Oregon State Elks district.

Local student Seth Trevino’s essay submitted to the Americanism Essay Contest from the Seaside Lodge took first place in the district and will go on to the state level.

The awards were given during the district’s deputy meeting in April. Those attending from the Seaside lodge were Exalted Ruler Jerry Lounsbury, Lecturing Knight Raedetta Castle, Hoop Shoot Chairman John Morris and Treasurer Jan Jackson.

The eight Northwest District Lodges are Astoria, Seaside, St. Helens, Tillamook, Toledo, Newport, Oceanlake (Lincoln City) and Florence.
