SEASIDE - Seaside High School presents the musical "Grease," sure to get your feet dancing and your hands jiving as you go back in time to the glorious 1950s, when rock 'n roll was the rage and poodle skirts and pompadours defined the teenage years. While the play is a bit different from the movie that most of us know, all your favorite characters - Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, Kenickie, Frenchy and the like - and your favorite songs are intact. "Grease," although it feels like a period piece of theater, is full of teenage issues that are still relevant to teens today - issues that transcend the passage of time.
The drama students, directors, producer, choreographers, stylists and costumers have been hard at work since early January and are eager to bring the production to the Coaster Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25 and March 2, 3, 4, with a 1 p.m. matinee Feb. 25. General admission tickets are on sale now from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at Seaside High School, for $8 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Reserved seating is available for $9 only at the Coaster Theatre box office from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays or by calling (503) 436-1242. Tickets will also be available at the door.
