SEASIDE - Seth Wendzel of Seaside, an Oregon State University student, was named by the Ford Family Foundation as a "Ford Scholar" for the 2005 - 2006 academic year. There were 119 students chosen from over 2,300 applicants.

Since the founding of the Ford Scholars Program in 1994, the Ford Family Foundation has awarded more than $29 million in the Ford Scholars program.

In addition to financial need and merit qualifications, Scholars must attend or plan to attend full-time an accredited nonprofit college in their state of residence and be pursuing a bachelor's degree. The renewable scholarships cover 90 percent of each student's unmet financial need for college. This year's winners represent 70 communities throughout Oregon and Siskiyou County, Calif.
