A Seaside man will have to register as a sex offender after being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl.
Clatsop County Circuit Court Judge Paula Brownhill sentenced Ryan Sonny Stricklan to 75 months in prison, with no early release, and 45 months of probation after a conviction of second-degree rape.
Second-degree rape is a class B felony and a Measure 11 crime.
Stricklan, 30, found the victim wandering in Seaside alone last May, drunk and despondent, according to Ron Brown, Clatsop County's chief deputy district attorney
Stricklan took the victim down to the beach where, according to the victim, he raped her. Stricklan said it was voluntary - he passed a polygraph test regarding this question. He then left the victim, still drunk, by herself.
"Help me understand why a 29-year-old man would take a 13-year-old down to the beach and take advantage of her," Judge Brownhill said.
Not receiving much of a response, she added, "Well, you'll have a lot of time to think about it."
