On March 1st, 2010, around 11:16 PM, the Seaside Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into the Neawanna River at the Wahanna Rd and Lewis and Clark intersection. Seaside Fire and Rescue also responded. The first responders on scene learned that two males were spotted in the river as the vehicle began to submerge. Both males were out of the water and on the river bank when police arrived. The US Coast Guard assisted by conducting a fly over and search of the river and river banks, between the bridge on highway 101 near Creekside Pizza south to 12th Ave. Due to the high rising waters of the incoming tide, the vehicle was not located in the river.

Seaside Police Officers are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. Both 18 year old occupants, Norman Terrill and Jordan Thompson, of Seaside, were transported to Providence Seaside Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. There was no indication that alcohol was involved and police are awaiting lab result to determine if any drugs were involved. The driver stated he did not see the stop sign which caused him to drive into the river. The case will be referred to the district attorney's office.

Tuesday morning Seaside Police were still on the scene awaiting the Clatsop County Dive Rescue Team to aid in the recovery the vehicle from the river.
