SEASIDE - Police in Seaside are asking residents to be cautious after a recent string of burglaries, urging them to lock doors and windows and leave outdoor lights on.

Timers on indoor lights and an alarm system are also recommended. People going out of town should get a someone to pick up newspapers and mail, and should call the police at 738-6311 and leave contact information if they will be gone for more than a few days.

Residents who see anything suspicious should call the police, at 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.

Anyone wanting to discuss concerns or set up a neighborhood committee can contact Sgt. Jason Schermerhorn at the police station.
