The Clatsop County Sheriff's Department is looking for volunteer scuba divers to join its Underwater Recovery Team.

Surface support and public-safety diver positions are open on the team. Volunteers should be willing to dedicate at least 10 hours a month for training and be on-call 24 hours a day. The work is mentally and physically challenging, so applicants should be motivated and dedicated, said team coordinator Deputy Robert Burk.

Applications are available at the front desk of the Sheriff's Office or by calling Burk at 325-8635. The application process includes a background check, urinalysis, physical agility test and skills evaluation.
